In Malawi, Africa
Cerebral Malaria (CM)
Cerebral malaria (CM) is a common infection that primarily affects African children less than 5 years of age. The mortality rate of CM in the region is high, and survival is complicated by secondary conditions like long-term neurocognitive impairment.

Blantyre Malaria Project (BMP)
BMP has been studying different interventions for CM in children at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre, Malawi. Their plan is to use a combination of patient monitoring indices to further improve CM treatment methods.

Low Resource Setting (LRS)
In LRS like Malawi, healthcare providers have limited training and access to essential critical care technology to effectively decrease death and disability rates. There needs to be more development of technology to target and benefit limited care environments.
